SINGAPORE - A fire broke out on Thursday morning in a 14th floor Clementi flat.

All residents of Block 604, Clementi West Street 1 are believed to have been evacuated. About 30 of them were living on the 13th and 14th floor of the block.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it received a call for help at 11.53am. The fire reportedly started from one of the bedrooms in the flat, and was extinguished by the SCDF using a water jet.

There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Residents that The Straits Times spoke to said they had smelled smoke, and had to wait for over an hour before they were allowed to return to their homes. Some also claimed to have heard explosions when they were being evacuated.

The residents were allowed to return to their homes around 1.45pm.
